This docile creature reaches more than 12 meters in length and feeds through a water filtration mechanism, its main food is phytoplankton and only rarely does it feed on crustaceans such as small larvae of crabs, squid, schools of fish, tiny like anchovies, sardines, or tuna. The whale shark has numerous and tiny teeth, these do not play any role in its diet since this animal only sucks its food and when it closes its mouth it filters it through its gill combs.
